Introducing Web Scoring: Send a Link, They Keep Score
Somebody in every foursome has to keep score — and until today, that somebody had to have the app. So the scorekeeper wasn't whoever was best at it. It was whoever had downloaded Carry.
That's backwards. Starting today, the person keeping score doesn't need the app. Send them a link, they score from their browser, and every card updates live.
Both halves of that are true, and the second half matters as much as the first. More on it below.
How it works
Type their name. If they're on Carry, tap them and you're done. If not, you get Add a Scorer: text them a link to install the app, or add them as a web scorer with a QR code or a link.
They point a camera at your screen on the first tee, or tap the link. Either way they land on a scorecard for their foursome and start scoring. If the wrong person scans it, make a new code — the old one dies instantly.
It's live, both directions
Every score they enter hits your card in a second or two, and yours hits theirs. Skins resolve across all groups as they land. Lose signal on the back nine and their taps queue on their phone until it's back — same as the app.
Everyone else can just watch
That's a different link. The round's … menu has Share Live Leaderboard and Show Round QR, both pointing at a read-only page. Post it in the group chat, send it to the guys ahead of you. They watch the money move and can't touch a thing.
Two links, two jobs. The scoring link goes to one person. The leaderboard link can go to anybody.
You still want the app
Which brings us to the other half. Let's be straight: the web scorer is a scorecard, not Carry. It exists so a round never stalls because someone didn't download an app. It is deliberately the thin version.
- No side bets. Junk, Nassau and Baseball are app-only — a web scorer never even sees the dot wheel.
- No push, no Live Activities. Nothing on the Lock Screen when someone steals a skin from them on 17.
- No history. No past rounds, no all-time leaderboard, no stats.
- No profile. No tracked handicap index, no avatar, no home club.
- No running a game. They can't set one up, edit it, or end it.
- One foursome. They score their own group's card and see no other. The money and the skins row across the whole field, yes — anyone else's scorecard, no.
It's enough to get through eighteen holes. It isn't the game.
Which is rather the point
When the round ends, their page turns into the results — their own finish and who took the most skins, with the rest of the field behind a Get Carry prompt. The full breakdown is in the app.
And it offers them the round. Claim it, and it lands in a real Carry account with their index and the round they just scored already in their history. They don't start empty. They start with tonight's game.
The app is still where the game lives. It's just no longer the price of getting everyone onto the first tee.
