Privacy Policy

Diverse Awareness Inc. ("Carry," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Carry mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the App. By using Carry, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you sign in using Apple Sign-In, we receive your name and email address (or a private relay email address if you choose to hide your email).
- Profile Information: Your display name, avatar photo (captured via camera or selected from photo library), home golf club, club membership status (member or non-member), GHIN handicap number (optional), and phone number (optional). The camera is also used to scan QR codes for joining skins groups. QR scans are processed on-device only — no image data is sent or stored.
- Phone Number (optional): If you choose to add your phone number during onboarding or in Settings, we store it on your profile solely so that group invites a friend sends to your phone number can be matched to your account automatically. Your phone number is never shared with other users, never used for marketing, and you can remove it at any time from Settings → Phone Number. Adding your phone number is entirely optional — the app works without it.
- Golf Scores: Scores you enter for each hole during skins games, including handicap index for net scoring.
- Group Membership: Information about the player groups you create or join, including group names, player associations, tee times, buy-in amounts, and game recurrence settings. Group invites can be shared as QR codes or invite links; when you scan or tap a group invite, you are added to that group with your consent.
- Course Preferences: Golf courses you select or save for your games.
- SMS Invitations: When you invite players via SMS, the App opens the native SMS composer on your device. We do not access your contacts or phone book. If you type a phone number for an invited player into the App (so we can later match that number to their account if they sign up and add their phone), that number is stored alongside the invite record solely for matching purposes and is removed once the invite is claimed or expires.
- Quick Game Guest Profiles: When a scorer creates a Quick Game, we automatically generate guest profiles for each participant using the name and handicap entered by the scorer. Game scores are stored under these guest profiles.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers necessary for app functionality.
- Usage Data: Basic information about how you interact with the App, such as features used and session duration, to help us improve the experience.
- Push Notifications: If you opt in, we use Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to send game-started alerts, group invite notifications, round completion updates, and scorer assignment changes. Your device token is stored securely on our Supabase servers solely to deliver these notifications. We do not use notifications for marketing or advertising purposes. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
- Locally Cached Data: Scores and game state are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults and local storage to support offline functionality. This data syncs to the cloud when an internet connection is available.
- Clipboard Access: When you tap a "Download Carry" link from an invite page in Safari, the web page copies the invite URL to your clipboard. On your next launch of Carry, we check (via iOS's privacy-preserving pasteboard API) whether the clipboard contains any URL and, if so, surface a one-tap "Join Skins Game" alert. The clipboard is only read after you tap Join on that alert — nothing is read without your action, and no clipboard content is stored or transmitted beyond matching a Carry invite link.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect payment information, financial account details, or transaction data. No financial data passes through Carry.
- We do not collect precise location data.
- We do not access your device contacts, phone book, or call history. Phone numbers are only collected when you type them into the App yourself (your own number on your profile, or numbers you enter to invite specific players).
- We do not use cookies or web-based tracking technologies within the App.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Scorekeeping & Live Syncing: To record, display, and sync golf scores across groups in real time during skins games (approximately every 15 seconds when online).
- Leaderboards & Statistics: To calculate and display skins results, player standings, season statistics, and all-time leaderboards.
- Group Management: To enable you to create, join, and manage player groups, set tee times, and configure recurring games.
- Subscriptions: To manage your subscription status and determine which features are available to you. Subscription billing is handled entirely by Apple; we do not collect or store payment information.
- Notifications: To send local tee time reminders, game-started alerts, and skin-won notifications to your device when you have opted in.
- Offline Support: To store scores locally on your device so the App functions without an internet connection, and to automatically sync data when connectivity returns.
- Profile & Handicap: To display your profile information to other players in your groups and to calculate net handicap-adjusted scoring.
- Quick Game Guest Profiles: To track scores, calculate skins results, and display game outcomes for Quick Game participants who do not have a Carry account.
- App Improvement: To understand how the App is used and to improve its features and performance.
- Communication: To respond to your support requests or inquiries.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With Other Players: Your name, scores, and group membership are visible to other players in your skins games, as this is essential to the App's functionality. In Quick Games, guest profile names, handicaps, and scores are visible to all participants in the same game.
- Service Providers: We use third-party services that process data on our behalf (see Section 4).
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, in response to a valid legal process, or to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property.
4. Third-Party Services
Carry uses the following third-party services:

Supabase hosts our database infrastructure in the United States. Your data is stored with encryption at rest and in transit, protected by row-level security policies that ensure users can only access data within their own groups. The Golf Course API is used solely to retrieve course information (course names, hole data, par, slope, and rating). No personal user data is shared with this service.
Carry does not integrate with any third-party payment services. All financial settlements between players occur entirely outside the App. No money flows through Carry.
5. Data Storage & Retention
Your data is stored in two locations:
- Cloud (Supabase): Account information, profile data, scores, group data, and avatar photos are stored securely on Supabase servers in the United States.
- Local Device (UserDefaults): Scores, game state, and cached data are stored locally on your iPhone to support offline functionality and faster load times. This data is deleted when you uninstall the App.
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. Specifically:
- Account data: Retained while your account exists.
- Game and score data: Retained to provide game history, season statistics, and leaderboard results.
- Avatar photos: Stored in cloud storage while your account exists. Deleted upon account deletion.
- Deleted accounts: Upon account deletion, your personal data will be removed from our active systems within 30 days. Some data may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being permanently deleted.
6. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time through the account deletion option in the App or by contacting us at support@carryapp.site. Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will:
- Delete your account and profile information.
- Remove your personal data from our active database.
- Anonymize or delete your scores and game history.
Deletion will be completed within 30 days of the request. We may retain certain data as required by law.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest.
- Secure authentication via Apple Sign-In.
- Row-level security policies on our database to ensure users can only access their own data.
- Regular review of our data security practices.
While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
Carry is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@carryapp.site.
9. Cookies and Tracking
The Carry mobile application does not use cookies, web beacons, or similar tracking technologies. We do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not participate in cross-app advertising or tracking frameworks.
10. Your Rights — California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
- Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. No opt-out is necessary.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at support@carryapp.site. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days.
11. Your Rights — European Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to Erasure: You may request that we delete your personal data.
- Right to Restrict Processing: You may request that we limit how we use your personal data.
- Right to Data Portability: You may request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to Object: You may object to our processing of your personal data.
Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (provided when you create an account) and legitimate interest (to provide and improve the App's services). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@carryapp.site. We will respond within 30 days.
12. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers and service providers are located. If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your data may be subject to U.S. laws, which may differ from the laws of your jurisdiction.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
