No cash. No index. Still skins.

Not every group plays for money. Juniors, club nights where cash stays in the wallet, the Tuesday crew that just wants to know who had the best day. And not every group has handicaps: the buddy who’s never kept one, the scratch group that plays it straight. Until now, Carry assumed both. Starting with this update, money and index are both optional. Turn off one, the other, or both.

Switch off the money and the strokes. The trash talk stays. The How does your crew play screen with Play for money and Handicap Index set to No.

Money off

No dollar signs anywhere. Every hole is still a skin, carries work just like before, and the leaderboard ranks by skins won instead of winnings. The live scorecard, the final results and the share card all count skins.

Side bets stay in, just without stakes. Junk, the Nassau and Baseball count dots instead of dollars, and the end screen totals everyone’s dots. The Hammer sits this one out, because doubling nothing is still nothing.

Index off

Gross scores decide every skin. No pops, no handicap allowance, no index boxes to fill in when you set up the game. The tee sheet shows names and scorekeepers, and that’s it. Lowest score on the hole wins.

Mix and match

Money on, index off: straight gross skins for cash. Good for groups that play off similar numbers and don’t want the stroke-hole debate.

Money off, index on: net skins for pride. The 18-handicapper still gets their shots on the hard holes, nobody owes anybody.

Both off: the simplest skins game there is. Lowest score wins the hole.

Where the switches live

New players pick how their crew plays during setup. After that it’s under Profile → Game Settings → How you play. Those are your defaults for the games you create. Every game keeps its own settings, so when you join someone else’s game, you play by theirs. The organizer can change a game’s buy-in and index settings any time before the round starts.

Web scorers see the same thing: no dollars and no pops when the game has them turned off.
